We understand the challenges that exist when pursuing an education. Today, more and more coursework requires using a tablet, laptop, desktop, or smartphone. It is no longer a want but a need for students to have sustained access to quality technology in order to access the internet, edit, create, and collaborate on work. Students who do not have at least one of these devices are on an unequal playing field when doing everything from completing coursework to job hunting. Though some computer services are available in public areas such as libraries and internet cafes, not everyone is able to use these alternatives for reasons such as transportation and not being able-bodied. Lacking sustained access to these resources has caused students to fall behind in their coursework, to need to change their academic focus, or to miss out on a job opportunity. As such, we cannot deny that technology is a staple to education in today's world.

Our goal is to improve the quality of life not only in the UCSB community but to inspire other institutions and communities that sustainable tech repair is possible. We are here to provide excellent methods in technology repair services for our community with respect to inspire and implement solutions that decrease the e-waste environmental crisis. We strive to perpetuate a narrative that is not only sustainable for our environment but also educative for our community by greatly increasing tech literacy. By increasing electronic literacy one can play a crucial role in greatly reducing the need to buy new devices and decreasing the amount of electronic waste.

We, as a society, generate way too much waste. Large electronic manufacturers do not create products that last very long or are good for the environment. These companies manufacture electronic products at incredible speeds, everything from the newest smartphones that are released every year to desktop computers and living appliances. To generate these units it takes a tremendous amount of resources and the manufacturing processes generate large amounts of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. Further, the devices that consumers buy are not intended to last forever and not every component can be safely recycled. By increasing the lifespan of our devices, we are able to decrease the amount of electronic waste that goes into landfills and reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing one more device.
