Joanne Nowak is co-Manager of the Sustainable Technology Repair Initiative. She believes in sustained access to quality technology as a basic need for college students, and is passionate about raising awareness of the equity and environmental inequalities related to every-day technology, as well as the right to repair. She is excited to take an important step forward in addressing these inequalities through the Sustainable Technology Repair Initiative at UCSB. Joanne earned her Masters and PhD in Sociology from the University of Toronto. Alongside co-managing STRI, Joanne also serves as the Academic Coordinator of the UCSB Blum Center on Poverty, Inequality, and Democracy.
