Charging Issues

  1. Start by eliminating the possibility of the charger being broken. Plug in the same charger to another device or try using another charger with your device.
  2. Try plugging the charger directly into an electrical outlet instead of through a power bar/extension cord
  3. Look inside your charging port and see if there is dust built up inside. Use a toothpick or some other thin, non-metal object to try to clean out your port. Don't use significant force.

If your device still isn't charging, Select your OS:

If none of these steps work, you may need to replace your charging port.

Windows

  1. Open Device Manager - Search for it or Right-Click Start button and select Device Manager
  2. Click Batteries to expand it to see: Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
  3. Right-click each item and choose Uninstall device
  4. Shut down laptop, Unplug power cable from laptop, Remove removable battery if possible
  5. Wait 5 minutes with the device off
  6. Put battery back in, Plug in laptop, Power on laptop

MacOS

Check for software updates: Apple Menu > System Preferences > Software Update

iPhone/iPad

Force restart phone - Press and hold volume up button and the side button for 5 seconds. Do again to turn on the phone. 

Android

  1. Restart your phone - Hold the Power button to restart.
  2. Update your phone in Settings > Software Update or Settings > About Phone > Software Update
